Carnival’s New and Largest Cruise Ship Completes Construction Milestone

Carnival Cruise Line’s largest ever cruise ship, Mardi Gras completed a construction milestone yesterday when she touched water for the first time.

After Mardi Gras floated out of the dry dock, the vessel was repositioned to a new location at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland to finalize its interior and exterior outfitting, including the installation of the first roller coaster at sea, dubbed BOLT, part of the Ultimate Playground outdoor recreation area.

Trump Admin Bans Cruises from Traveling to Cuba

The U.S. government imposed new restrictions on Americans going to Cuba, banning the most common way Americans travel to the island. The ban was announced Tuesday as a part of a new series of travel-related sanctions.

Beginning on Wednesday, тhe Trump administration will not allow group educational and cultural trips to the island unless they were booked before June 5, the Treasury Department said in an official statement. Nor will it permit cruises, private yachts or fishing vessels to stop in Cuba. Group people-to-people trips have become the most popular form of U.S. leisure travel to the island, bringing more than 142,000 people in the first four months of the year that is more than a 300% increase over the same period last year.

Carnival Announces Roller Coaster on New Cruise Ship From Florida

Carnival Cruise Line announced plans to launch the first cruise ship with a roller coaster on board.
Carnival promises ‘heart-pounding’ onboard roller coaster on its highly anticipated cruise ship, Mardi Gras.

The all-electric coaster, the BOLT, will travel nearly 40 mph and take riders on a series of twists, turns and drops, right around the ship’s famous whale-tail funnel. Continue reading

First Steel Cut for Carnival Cruise Line’s First LNG-Powered Ship

Carnival Cruise Line cuts first steel for its largest ever ship.

The first steel has been cut for the newest and largest ship in Carnival Cruise Line’s latest class.

Carnival Horizon, Newest and Largest in Fleet, Arrives in PortMiami

Carnival Horizon, the newest ship in the cruise line’s fleet, arrives in PortMiami this month.

Horizon is the newest and the largest ship in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet and the second Vista class ship and the 26-th ship for Florida-based cruise operator. The cruise ship was built by Italian shipyard Fincantieri. The first ship in class, Carnival Vista, built by the same firm, was delivered in April 2016. Continue reading
