Harmony of the Seas, World’s Largest Ever Cruise Ship, Delivered

Royal Caribbean took delivery of the world’s largest cruise ship in an official ceremony Thursday at Saint Nazaire STX France shipyard.

After 32 months of construction at the shipyard involving thousands of shipyard workers, employees, sub-contractors, and suppliers, the mammoth cruise ship is now home to 2,100 crew members from 77 different nationalities. Harmony of the Seas, which will be the 25th ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, is set to arrive in Southampton on May 17. Continue reading

Family Takes on Royal Caribbean After 4-Year Old Nearly Drowns

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA family is suing one of the largest cruise lines in the world after their 4-year-old nearly drowned in the on-boat pool. 

The lawsuit, that was filed only a few days ago, calls for Royal Caribbean International to staff its childrens’ pools with lifeguards. The family hopes the lawsuit would save lives. Continue reading

4 Injured on Storm-Battered Anthem Of The Seas: Nelson Calls for Investigation

Section_of_Anthem_of_the_SeasU.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Orlando, has called for the National Transportation Safety Board to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Four people were injured on Royal Caribbean’s Anthem Of The Seas after hurricane-force winds and waves battered the huge vessel off the South Carolina coast.

The ship, with more than 4,500 guests and 1,600 crew members, was on its way from Cape Liberty in New Jersey to Port Canaveral for a port-of-call stop, before it was to head to the Bahamas when it ran into high winds and rough seas in the Atlantic Ocean over the weekend.

Giant Anthem of the Seas Damaged by 30 Foot Waves

ANTHEM_OF_THE_SEAS_0310One of the world’s newest and biggest cruise ships was caught in a powerful winter storm that damaged the ship and left passengers confined to their cabins.

The giant Royal Caribbean’s Anthem Of The Seas was heading to Port Canaveral, Florida from its home port of Cape Liberty, New Jersey when it encountered the storm off the coast of Cape Hatteras in North Carolina on Saturday.  Continue reading
