Thomson takes Royal Caribbean’s Splendour of the Seas and renames it Discovery.

splendour of the seas thomson discoveryRoyal Caribbean prepares to hand over Splendour of the Seas to Thomson Cruises. The UK-based company and subsidiary of TUI Group announced that when the vessel joins their fleet next year, they will rename it to Thomson Discovery.

After the acquisition, the former Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship will replace Island Escape, so Thomson’s fleet will keep the total number of its ships to five. Continue reading

Oasis of the Seas – The Biggest Ship Ever to Be Based at Port Canaveral

The enormous vessel, which cost $1.4 billion to build in 2007- 2008, will be the largest passenger ship ever to be based at Port Canaveral. Harmony of the Seas to be the World’s Largest Cruise Ship

Section_of_Anthem_of_the_SeasHarmony of the Seas will be the biggest cruise ship ever built and the third in the line’s Oasis class ship, announced Royal Caribbean last Wednesday. The ship which is currently under construction at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, will span 16 decks and it will carry 5,479 passengers, surpassing its sister ships Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas. Revitalized Freedom of the Seas returns to Port Canaveral

Only three years ago, the first of the Freedom class of ships, Freedom of the Seas, was the Guiness World Records holder for the largest cruise ship in the world. It is still the largest and most innovative cruise ship sailing from Port Canaveral. Continue reading

Disney Magic crew rescues Royal Caribbean passenger

554px-Lifebelt_in_WaterDisney Magic crew has staged a dramatic rescue of a guest on Royal Caribbean ship Oasis of the Seas who fell overboard from his liner during a luxury cruise and then holidaymakers spot him in water.

The incident happened last Thursday morning. The 22-year-old man was a guest of the world’s largest cruise ship, when suddenly he fell overboard just outside of Cozumel in Mexico. Luckily, the man was spotted by Scott Campbell, a passenger on board the Disney Magic, a Port Canaveral-based cruise ship, that was approaching the port for a scheduled port-of-call stop.
