More than $500 million is to be spent by Celebrity Cruises to upgrade the line’s fleet. The 12 cruise ships will get a refresh to their accommodation and culinary offerings.
The cruise line has engaged the British designer Kelly Hoppen- the mastermind behind the suite-class Retreat and the spa on Celebrity Edge- to design these features on the Millennium and Solstice ships.
Besides Hoppen, more than 500 leading architects, designers, and engineers, including Hirsch Bedner Associates, the largest hospitality design firm in the world, are involved to bring the fleet up to the level of soon-to-debut Celebrity Edge. Accommodation on Millennium, Infinity, Constellation, and Summit is to be redesigned alongside cabins and many suites on Solstice, Equinox, Eclipse, Reflection, and Silhouette.
The first renovation will take place in 2019, starting with Millennium and will continue across the entire Celebrity fleet until 2023. Every ship will get The Retreat Sundeck and The Retreat Lounge- previously Michael’s Club- both created by Kelly Hoppen. The Qsine restaurant will be completely renovated and added across the fleet. A marketplace-inspired design will be added to The Oceanview Cafe and the main restaurant will be redesigned.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president, and chief executive said that the cruise line’s dedication to improving “the way guests experience the world” knows no bounds.
