Cruise Ship Crashes Into Alaska Dock
Multiple news sources have reported that Celebrity Cruises’ ship Infinity crashed into a dock in Ketchikan, Alaska . The accident happened between 2 pm – 2.30 pm June 3. No injuries were reported in the accident.
The city’s ports and harbors director Steve Corporon reportedly estimated the damage to the dock will cost between 2 and 3 million dollars to repair. Although the Coast Guard has not yet announced a determination of the official cause of the incident, there is information that winds in the area were reported to be gusting to around 45 miles per hour. Royal Caribbean adds world’s biggest cruise ship to its fleet.
Royal Caribbean took delivery of the world’s largest cruise ship in an official ceremony Thursday at Saint Nazaire STX France shipyard.
After 32 months of construction at the shipyard involving thousands of shipyard workers, employees, sub-contractors, and suppliers, the mammoth cruise ship is now home to 2,100 crew members from 77 different nationalities. Harmony of the Seas, which will be the 25th ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, is set to arrive in Southampton on May 17. Continue reading
