$1.6 Million Security Funding Grant Allocated to Port Canaveral

A new cargo era for Port Canaveral

800px-Delta_Mariner_from_side_docked_at_Port_Canaveral_(08PD-3492)GT USA, an American company which is a subsidiary of Middle Eastern cargo company Gulftainer signed a 35-year agreement with Port Canaveral and agreed to invest $100 million in infrastructure, equipment and human resources. The company expects to hire almost 100% of its full-time employees from Florida.

Badr Jafar, Chairman of Gulftainer’s Executive Board and John E.Walsh, CEO of the Canaveral Port Authority, signed the agreement at a ceremony on June 24. Continue reading

Carnival’s third year-round ship at Port Canaveral

800px-St_Thomas_Marriott_Carnival_Liberty_2Carnival Cruise Lines moves the Liberty from Port of Miami to Port Canaveral. The Liberty joins two other Carnival cruise ships, the Sensation and the totally transformed Sunshine, both home-based at Port Canaveral.

With the addition of the Liberty on May 4 to Port Canaveral line-up, Carnival Cruise Lines already has three ships based here. In this way Carnival will increase the number of its passengers to 600,000 a year on nearly 200 cruises visiting 18 tropical islands. Continue reading

Carnival’s newly renovated Sunshine at Port Canaveral

800px-Carnival_Sunshine_04Carnival Cruise Lines brought a new ship to Port Canaveral last Thursday.  The 3,006-passenger Sunshine set sail on a special 11-day cruise from New Orleans on April 6 and then on a two-day Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral on April 17. The Carnival Sunshine is replacing the Carnival Dream which, in its turn, is moving to New Orleans. Continue reading

Port Canaveral to become a prime destination for cargo and cruise ships

PCMajor expansion works are underway at Port Canaveral. A $587 million development program has been started: the harbor will be widened and deepened and a new terminal and cargo facility will be constructed in order to accommodate more cargo vessels and larger cruise ships. The five-year project is expected to establish the port as an important cargo destination and draw more cruise passengers. Continue reading
