A young girl drowned in a swimming pool aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship off the Carolinas last Sunday afternoon, officials reported. The ship immediatey changed course for Port Canaveral, Florida, arriving about noon on Monday.

Carnival Cruise Line is planning a major expansion of its presence at Port Canaveral by adding two new ships, announced the officials from the company a couple of weeks ago.
The Carnival Victory will replace the smaller Carnival Sensation and will offer three- and four- day Bahamas cruises. The Victory is 34 per cent larger and has more balcony rooms, features and shipboard amenities. The Sensation will head to Port Miami at that time, replacing the Victory there. Continue reading

Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas will leave Port Everglades and move to Port Canaveral for the winter 2016-2017 cruise season, officials from the cruise line announced Thursday. The enormous vessel, which cost $1.4 billion to build in 2007- 2008, will be the largest passenger ship ever to be based at Port Canaveral. Harmony of the Seas will be the biggest cruise ship ever built and the third in the line’s Oasis class ship, announced Royal Caribbean last Wednesday. The ship which is currently under construction at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, will span 16 decks and it will carry 5,479 passengers, surpassing its sister ships Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas.
