Major expansion works are underway at Port Canaveral. A $587 million development program has been started: the harbor will be widened and deepened and a new terminal and cargo facility will be constructed in order to accommodate more cargo vessels and larger cruise ships. Norwegian Spirit to homeport in Port Canaveral
Port Canaveral will host Norwegian Cruise Line again and prepares for the arrival of the Norwegian Spirit. A 879-foot, 75,338 tons and 1,996-guest ship, the Spirit was constructed for Star Cruises by Meyer-Werft and launched in 1998. She was bought by Norwegian Cruise Line in 2004 and renamed Norwegian Spirit. It’s the only ship of its class in the Norwegian fleet. The ship is presently based in Barcelona and will leave Europe on November 5th, 2015 on a 16-day cruise to Florida visiting Madeira, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Maarten and St. Thomas. Continue reading

The Disney Dream – cruise ship
The Disney Dream is a Panamax – cruise ship of the American shipping company Disney Cruise Line . It is the first ship to the shipping company on the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg ( Ems was built). With a length of almost 340 meters, and a survey of approximately 130,000 gross tonnage was the Disney Dream on delivery in December 2010, the largest cruise ship built in Germany.
History:
On 24 April 2007 ordered the Disney Cruise Line , the two post-Panamax cruise ship Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy at the Papenburg shipyard Meyer Werft . On 2 March 2009, the cut of the shipbuilding began reinforcing steel and the end of August of the same year, the keel was laid . On 1 June 2010 was the last building block, a 260-ton portion of the bow mounted. After undocking on 30 October 2010 was the Disney Dream in the night of 12 on the 13th November 2010 from Papenburg on the pent Ems to Eemshaven transferred from where the shipyard began sea trials, the ship was equipped.
It was the last transfer under the flag of the Meyer Werft on Hamburg to Bremerhaven . There the ship was on 9 December – symbolized by the traditional flag change – from the Meyer Werft to the president of Disney Cruise Line, Karl Holz, passed. At the Columbus Quay was still the completion of the equipment and supplies, as well as the ship’s crew, Captain Tom Forberg took command of the ship.
